LEEDS, AL - (April 27) - The first season of boy's soccer in Leeds ended this Tuesday, with a 6-0 loss to the defending 3A champions, the Altamont Knights, in the first round of the playoffs. Leeds played good defense for the first half of the game, allowing only one goal, but they were never able to get their offense going. The second half was a tougher game, with Altamont scoring five goals. Leeds managed to drive the ball to the opposing goalpost several times but couldn't convert any shots. Leeds Goalee Christian Blaylock had more than fifteen saves during the game. Coach Jonathan Downey said Altamont's experience was the deciding factor. "[Altamont] had seven seniors, we've got two juniors," Downey told the Herald. "They just had the physical size on us. Altamont are the defending champs, for us to get seeded against them [in the first round] was very unlucky. We could have made it two or three rounds into the playoffs otherwise."
